Blue skies ahead for Indigo staff

Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island is set to open in Wan Chai early next year. The hotel currently has 60 positions available in various departments, including chief accountant in the finance team, supervisors and managers for the front office, housekeeping and food and beverage staff, and sales managers and reservations agents for the sales and marketing team.

"We need our team to have the flexibility to meet the individual needs of our guests and the ever-changing hotel industry," says Bryan Gabriel, general manager of Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island. "They must be able to adapt to changes quickly and need to be sensitive towards the differing requirements of guests.

"We are looking for team players who are passionate about our neighbourhood and city and are keen to share this with our guests. Our service is about personal interactions and engagement, whether with guests or with each other. It is important that we love what we do because this will only enhance the guest experience."

Gabriel says candidates can expect to work in a challenging but supportive workplace with opportunities for professional and personal growth.

"Successful candidates will take pride in their exceptional skills in the service and hotel industry, as well as be vibrant, personable, original and sincere," he says. "As a hotel of the present and the future, we connect with our guests through technology and personal relationships, whether they are staying with us or planning their future visits."

The hotel has made team development a primary focus. By utilising a multimedia e-learning platform, team members are able to learn at their own pace. During performance reviews, supervisors will collaborate with team members to identify areas that could be improved upon and provide training accordingly.

"We have a comprehensive colleague-succession plan to ensure our middle managers are best prepared to excel in higher management roles in the future," says Gabriel. "The plan comes complete with personal and professional goals for the candidate to achieve over two to three years."

The work environment at the hotel centres around being part of a fun and successful team, with an emphasis on delivering the highest level of personalised service to guests, Gabriel adds.

"Above all, we want you to know what success means within your role and to recognise the opportunity to develop and grow," he says.

"We emphasise career opportunities and professional development with the hotel. Our team are constantly encouraged to 'do the right thing' and rewarded for delivering outstanding service."
