Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working with more than 150 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and mainland China, is committed to advancing patient service, research, training and education to the highest possible standard in all major areas of ophthalmology and visual sciences. We have a strong track record and profile in international ophthalmology, and are dedicated to worthwhile community programmes and public education projects. The Department, always ‘in search of excellence’, is highly committed to supporting career developments of all staff members. We are looking for candidates, who are self-motivated, hardworking, honest, and with a strong sense of responsibility, in the following position to further strengthen our research. Previous research experience in ophthalmology or visual sciences is desirable but not mandatory. The appointee(s) will be involved in both team and independent research.
Assistant Computer Officer(s) (Ref. 16000296) (closing date: November 29, 2016)
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields; (ii) at least 2 years’ relevant work experience in web-based application development and webpage design; (iii) knowledge of web-based application development, including IIS, Apache, Java, JSP, PHP, XML, MySQL and MS SQL; (iv) an understanding of current computing technology and development; (v) strong communication and vendor management skills; and (vi) good supervisory skills and self-motivation. Duties include (a) developing, co-ordinating and implementing IT projects; (b) establishing and maintaining the Department’s digital video/photographic/journal libraries; (c) managing projects, developing and maintaining web applications; (d) providing end-user support, as well as photography and video-taking and editing; and (e) participating in research projects. Appointment will be made on a 1- or 2-year contract (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to mutual agreement and good performance.
