The Education University of Hong Kong Library is seeking a library professional with a strong background in bibliographic control and information management. The appointee will be working in the Information Management (IM) Section of the Library.  He/she will assist the Section Head in managing the IM Section, including the supervision of the daily operations in creation, maintenance and enhancement of metadata of not just the Library’s print, media and digital collections but also a number of in-house developed databases, digital archives and the institutional repository.  The appointee will supervise and train a team of library assistants in these areas; coordinate copyright clearance of teaching materials and production of course packs; perform reference duties at the Library’s Information Counter on a shift basis, including evenings, weekends and public holidays; and conduct special projects and any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

 

Applicants should have a recognized first degree plus a postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information science (MLS, MCLIP or equivalent), with at least two years’ post-qualification experience in an academic library.  They should also have substantial knowledge and experience in technical services in academic libraries, and good knowledge in information organization with AACR2/RDA, MARC21, LCCS, LCSH, etc.  Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese is necessary.  Working knowledge in integrated library systems such as the Alma or INNOPAC system and fluency in Putonghua will be advantageous.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental benefits.
