Established by the Government in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) has five schools, namely the School of Arts & Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business & Administration, School of Education & Languages, School of Science & Technology, and the Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional & Continuing Education. Duties

The appointee as Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer will be responsible for the planning, development, coordination and delivery (including classroom teaching) of face-to-face and distance learning courses in psychology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointee will, where necessary, be involved in programme administration. He/she will be expected to undertake scholarly activities and participate in School/University activities and administration.

The appointee as Lecturer will undertake classroom teaching of face-to-face courses and coordination of distance learning courses in psychology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and assist in the planning, development and administration of courses and programmes. He/she will also be expected to participate in School/University activities and services.

 

Requirements

Applicants for the post of Assistant Professor should have an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline. They should also have relevant teaching/professional experience including programme development and course administration. A record of research and peer-reviewed publications, involvement in professional and community activities as well as a good command of English and Chinese are required.

Applicants with a strong record of relevant teaching/professional experience and a higher degree in a relevant discipline, but without a doctorate, may be considered for the post of Senior Lecturer.

Applicants for the post of Lecturer should have a higher degree in a relevant discipline.  Relevant teaching/professional experience as well as a good command of English and Chinese are required.

Teaching duties in the first year will include (1) teaching face-to-face undergraduate courses of Psychology for Nurses: Principles and Application; Foundation of Social Sciences: Psychology; Introductory Psychology; Qualitative Research Methods; and (2) coordinating distance-learning courses of Exploring Psychology and 心理學導輪理論與實踐. Specialists in applied psychology, such as child/educational psychology, social/industrial-organizational psychology, experimental/media psychologyclinical/counselling psychology, are welcome to apply

Applicants who do not meet the specialties requirement may be considered for part-time appointment.

 

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidateswill be appointed on a full-time fixed term contract. Fringe benefits will include annual leave, medical & dental benefits, life insurance coverage and gratuity, where applicable.
