School of Hotel and Tourism Management

CUHK Business School is a leading business school and a pioneer in business education in the Asia-Pacific region. Established in Hong Kong in 1963, it is the first business school to offer BBA, MBA and Executive MBA programmes in the region. The Business School comprises two schools – Accountancy and Hotel & Tourism Management; and four departments – Finance, Decision Sciences & Managerial Economics, Management and Marketing. The School has over 4,300 full-time and part-time students and has the largest business school alumni network in Hong Kong, with over 30,000 alumni worldwide.

The CUHK Business School now seeks to appoint a Director of School of Hotel and Tourism Management. The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) is an integral part of the Business School. It was established in 1998 in view of the growing significance of the hospitality industry in Hong Kong and Asia. The SHTM’s mission is to develop leaders for the hospitality industry by delivering a broad business education with a hospitality focus. The School is in the process of developing a strategic plan to strengthen teaching and research capabilities in the real estate area, from the perspective of hospitality industry. It now comprises a dynamic group of academic and professional teaching staff members supported by a team of teaching, research and administrative support staff as well as a food and beverage team.

The SHTM offers programmes at different levels to nurture future leaders for the hospitality and real estate industries. The following is a list of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes:
- BBA in Hospitality and Real Estate [1]
- MSc in Management of Real Estate and Hospitality Assets
- MPhil-PhD in Business Administration

Reporting to the Dean, the Director is responsible for the overall success of the SHTM, through providing strategic leadership to its academic and professional teams, enhancing the quality and reputation of its research and programmes, strengthening connection with the profession as well as community engagement.

The appointee should have rich experience in the hospitality industry or related business sectors, connection with the professional community, an international outlook, outstanding communication and networking skills, a long-term vision as well as strong commitment for hospitality and real estate education. Familiarity with the region is an advantage.

Applicants should preferably have a higher degree in a business, hospitality or other related disciplines, and a substantial combination of teaching, administrative and professional experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been developed. The appointee should have teaching experience in the tertiary education sector, and an appreciation of the teaching and research mission of the University.

Appointment will be made on contract basis for three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement and may be considered for a courtesy title of Professor of Practice / Associate Professor of Practice in the relevant discipline.
