Major Duties:
(a) To act as a specialist on design, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical systems, undertake project management of new and alterations works, and provide professional advice on electrical aspects for the planning, design, construction and operation of VTC’s premises;
(b) To develop, design and implement normal and emergency power distribution systems, uninterruptible power supply, illumination and other electrical systems in accordance with statutory requirements and relevant codes;
(c) To review the work practices and undertake periodic inspections and analysis of electrical systems for ensuring a safe operation;
(d) To design, specify, prepare electrical tender documents, and manage new building projects including the preparation of budget and design briefs, procurement of consultants and contractors, and administration of contracts; and
(e) To supervise new electrical building services installations and builder’s works for major alterations, additions and improvements works.

Requirements:
(a) A recognized degree in relevant fields and corporate membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) (Electrical Discipline), or equivalent, and be a Registered Electrical Worker (Grade C – C0) and a Registered Professional Engineer;
(b) At least 7 years’ relevant experience in E & M design, installation and maintenance of electrical systems and supervision of institutional building projects;
(c) Relevant work experience in the following areas:
(i) design and implementation of protection and control systems against electric shock, electric fire and equipment failure; and
(ii) contract administration and project management of building projects, as well as alterations, additions and improvements works in institutional buildings;
(d) In-depth knowledge of the legislations, industry standards and electrical principals that apply to electrical systems; and
(e) Excellent management, interpersonal and communication skills.

Notes:
(1) The post is at the rank of “Manager”.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
