Applications are invited for appointment as Full-time Research Assistant I/II (e-Learning for digital citizenship development) in Learning and Assessment for Digital Citizenship in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 201700063), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal.
The appointee will serve as members on a research team on a project titled “Learning and Assessment for Digital Citizenship(http://www.rss.hku.hk/links-resources/spotlight/trs-6th-round) funded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council under the Theme-Based Research Scheme. This project will address research questions about the impact of digital media on human development and the everyday life of children and youths. Cutting-edge research designs and instrumentation will be developed and deployed to address the grand challenge of understanding and assessing digital citizenship development as a human capacity and its relationship to children’s learning lives (formal, informal, digital and non-digital). The project will also be developing online serious games for the learning and assessment of collaborative problem solving.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Media Studies, Instructional Design or related fields, and a good background in the development of systems for e-Learning, serious games, mobile computing, data analytics and/or visualization. Priority would be given to those with demonstrated ability in academic writing, a higher degree in related areas, or those who have demonstrated expertise in e-learning technology design and/or serious games design. The appointee will be working with a medium-sized multidisciplinary research team to address research questions at the intersection between child development, media, technology and learning. He/She will work under the supervision of Professor Nancy Law and other research team members, and contribute to project management support for the study. This position would be very attractive to those who wish to pursue an academic career, and has interest in pursuing further studies in the related areas.
