Established by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (“TWGHs”) in 2010, Tung Wah College (the “College”) is a self-financed degree-granting institution registered under the Post-Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap.320). Following the educational ideals of TWGHs and leveraging on its renowned strengths and expertise, the College aims to provide high quality tertiary education and nurture youngsters to possess the qualities of “T ∙ W ∙ C” (i.e. Talent in relevant professions, Wisdom in problem-solving and Commitment to responsibilities) and become socially responsible and caring professionals.
The College currently offers degree programmes in Business Administration (major in Entrepreneurship and Management, Financial Services, Health Services Management, Marketing & Professional Accountancy), Health Science (major in Applied Gerontology, Nursing), Medical Science (major in Basic Medical Sciences, Forensic Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiation Therapy & Veterinary Health Studies), Occupational Therapy, Social Science (major in Applied Psychology). In addition, the College also offers sub-degree programmes including Early Childhood Education, Business Studies, Psychology, Health Studies and Nursing. The appointee will report to the President and work closely with the Vice-President (Academic) and senior academic staff of the Schools to provide advice and support to the College in research and project administration.
The appointee will be responsible for overseeing the work of the Research Office to ensure its smooth operation and provision of effective support to the College’s research and project administration as well as effective utilization of its staff and resources. He/She is expected to (a) advise the senior management in developing and reviewing College policies and guidelines in relation to research and project administration; (b) identify research opportunities and potential funding sources for projects and research; (c) develop and maintain connections with potential grant sponsors; (d) provide support to Schools and Units in their preparation of project proposals and manage the grant application process; (e) provide professional administrative and secretariat support to research related committees to ensure their smooth operation; (f) monitor the execution of the granted projects and to ensure that the research guidelines and project agreement terms and requirements are followed and met by each project; (g) promote quality research culture and practices by organizing relevant activities and training on research skills; (h) deliver courses if applicable; and (i) perform any other duties as assigned by the President and /or his/her delegates.
The appointee should possess (a) a Master’s degree or above (preferably a doctoral degree); (b) at least 10 years of solid and relevant working experience in research and project management; (c) proven track record of publications and research grant applications; (d) solid working experience in committee work; (e) good knowledge of the local education system; (f) excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, fluency in Putonghua is an advantage; (g) excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; and be detail-minded and meticulous.
