Job Posting Details

The appointee will be involved in installing new transmission electron microscopes (TEMs) and daily operation of the electron microscopy/optical characterization facilities at the Materials Characterization and Preparation Facility (MCPF).  MCPF is one of the largest central facilities serving the academic researchers and postgraduate students in Schools of Science and Engineering for the preparation, characterization and analysis of various advanced materials. In addition to serving HKUST, MCPF also provides services to other Hong Kong tertiary institutions and clients from government laboratories and regional industries.

Applicants should have a recognized diploma or degree in Physics, Biology, Materials Science and Engineering or related disciplines.  The appointee should be a good team player and be able to work independently, perform multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment, and have strong motivation to learn and grow.  Hands-on advanced training of TEM/Optical Characterization will be provided.  Experience in solid sample preparation (cutting, polishing and ion milling) and optical characterization (Raman, FITR & UV spectroscopy) is preferred.  Prior experience with TEM instrumentation or Aberration-corrected TEM/Optical Characterization is strongly desirable. (Duration: 1 year)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
