Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), to commence on February 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, with not less than 2 years’ teaching experience at the tertiary level. They should also have effective verbal and written English communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills and a commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning. A Ph.D. with a focus on teaching and learning within higher education would be advantageous, although doctorates from other disciplines are appropriate if candidates can demonstrate a strong knowledge of the major pedagogical models that are relevant to higher education. In addition to general teaching at tertiary level, experience in conducting small group tutorials and/or lab demonstrations, with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) background and experience in eLearning and professional development would be valuable.

The appointee will contribute primarily to the development and delivery of the mandatory ‘Certificate of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’ programme, currently offered by the Centre to all research postgraduate students of the University. There may also be opportunities to contribute broadly to other programmes offered by the Centre.

Information about the Centre can be obtained at http://www.cetl.hku.hk. Enquiries about the post should be sent to Dr. Luke Fryer, CETL (e-mail: fryer@hku.hk).

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.

Applicants should send a completed application form and an up-to-date C.V. to cetlsen@hku.hk.  Application forms (341/1111) can be downloaded at http://www.hku.hk/apptunit/form-ext.doc.  Further particulars can be obtained at http://jobs.hku.hk.  Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until December 9, 2016.

The University thanks applicants for their interest, but advises that only candidates shortlisted for interviews will be notified of the application result.
