Established by the Government in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) has five academic units, namely the School of Arts & Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business & Administration, School of Education & Languages, School of Science & Technology, and the Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional & Continuing Education. Through them, we provide full-time and part-time programmes at undergraduate, post-graduate, and sub-degree levels.

Today we have over 9,500 full-time and 10,000 part-time students with about 220 programmes of studies. Part-time Teaching Assistant (Ref: 16-PTTA-351-O)

Duties & Requirements

The appointees will be required to assist in, and where necessary, undertake course planning, development and delivery of the full-time face-to-face undergraduate programmes. Major duties include conducting tutorials, marking assignments/examination scripts and performing other related teaching and administrative duties. Requirements for relevant courses are as follows:

  • Presentation Skills

Applicants should have at least a recognized degree in English, Linguistics or a related discipline.

  •  Sociolinguistic Issues in Hong Kong

Applicants should have at least a recognized degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics or a related discipline.

  • Psychology for Nurses: Principles and Applications / Learning and Motivation / Qualitative Research Methods

Applicants should have at least a recognized degree in Psychology.

  • Consumer Psychology / Industrial-Organizational Psychology

Applicants should have a recognized degree in Psychology.

  •  Photographic Communication

Applicants should possess a recognized degree in Photography, Fine Art, Creative Media or a related discipline.

  • Digital Darkroom and Retouching Techniques

Applicants should possess a recognized degree in Photography, Creative Media or a related discipline.

  • World Art

Applicants should possess a recognized degree in fine art or a related discipline.

  • Understanding Colour: A New Way of Seeing

Applicants should possess a recognized degree in visual communication or a related discipline.

(For all the courses listed above, preference will be given to those with a relevant higher degree and teaching experience at tertiary level.)

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on a temporary part-time fixed term contract. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
