Programmer I (System Services Section)

The appointee will be responsible for developing web applications and responsive website applications using customized and packaged software. He/She will maintain and enhance existing web applications, programs and scripts of various library systems. He/She will also participate in development of large-scale database systems, developing and implementing database-driven user-interface and templates according to user needs, and enhancing existing library applications in the University Portal. The appointment will be a period of 12 months.

Applicants should have Level 2 or equivalent or above in 5 subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in the HKDSE; or Grade E (Level 2) or above in at least 5 subjects including Chinese, English (Syllabus B) and Mathematics in HKCEE or equivalent; and an associate degree or a higher diploma in Computer or related fields with at least 2 years of working experience in web application development. Applicants must be self-motivated, detailed, team player and willing to learn. They should have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, experience in troubleshooting with database and web technologies, user interface design, restful web services, reporting and data storage, as well as content management integration and customization, e.g. Drupal, WordPress, Joomla. They should also have experience with web development tools such as PHP/MySQL, Python, Bootstrap, CSS, JavaScript. Experience in web graphics, usability design, and building iOS and Android mobile apps will be an advantage.
