Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre
The Faculty of Science is going to establish the Institute of Bioresource and Agriculture (IBA) which will serve as a knowledge hub that engages in bioresource conservation and sustainable agriculture, promotes and offers professional and public education in sustainable consumption, bioresource and organic agriculture. The Institute is seeking for a suitable candidate to fill the following vacancy. During the preparation stage, the appointee will work under the Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre.
The appointee will assist the Director in coordinating the establishment of IBA and is expected to take up coordination, management and supervisory roles in the establishment and development of the Institute. Duties include designing and coordinating the development of curriculum for tertiary education in ‘Bioresource and Agriculture’, establishing a Learning Centre with multi-media exhibition facilities on Bioresource and Sustainable Living, as well as coordinating educational programmes for the public. The appointee will be responsible for promoting environmental education and encouraging appreciation of biodiversity and sustainable agriculture through interactive learning experience, organisation of exhibition, tours, workshops and various activities at the Institute and in the community.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Conservation, Agriculture or relevant disciplines with at least four years of work experience in teaching and management. They should have professional knowledge in the said disciplines, organisational ability to plan and prioritise multiple projects, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese. They are expected to be reliable and energetic self-starters, detail-oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of one to two years commencing as soon as possible. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
