Applications are invited from eligible candidates for enrolment as members of the Civil Aid Service (CAS). They include Officers at Grade IV and Other Ranks at Grade I.

Major Duties
The Civil Aid Service (CAS) is a government auxiliary emergency service established under the Civil Aid Service Ordinance. The primary duty of the CAS is to provide civil support services during emergencies. Members of the Service are trained to perform emergency duties during typhoons, flooding and landslips, search for and rescue people in distress in mountains; help evacuate or rescue victims trapped under collapsed buildings or buried in landslips; combat vegetation fires and conduct youth training.

Requirements for Enrolment

Other Ranks at Grade I

All Applicants should be:-
(1) at least 16 years of age, any applicant under 18 years of age should obtain from his/her parent or guardian a written consent;
(2) a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(3) able to speak fluent Cantonese and read Chinese;
(4) able to pass the Functional and Fitness Tests and a Medical Examination; and
(5) a Form 3 graduate or above.

Officers at Grade IV

All Applicants should be:-
(1) at least 18 years of age;
(2) a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(3) able to speak fluent Cantonese and read Chinese and English;
(4) able to pass the Functional and Fitness Tests and a Medical Examination, and
(5) a holder of a bachelor’s degree and possess special skills / experience that fit for the missions of the CAS.

Completed [Enrolment Form] should reach Records Office, 4/F, CAS Headquarters, 8 To Wah Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon on or before 31 December 2016.

Officers at Grade IV
Completed [Enrolment Form] and [Application Form for CAS Officers] should reach Records Office, 4/F, CAS Headquarters, 8 To Wah Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon on or before 31 December 2016.

Please specify on the envelope "Application for enrolment as Member / Officer of the CAS". Enrolment Form [CAS 17 (Rev. 9/2016)] and Application Form for CAS Officer can be obtained through:

Selection Procedures

Other Ranks at Grade I
(1) Shortlisted candidates will be required to pass the Functional and Fitness Tests, Written Test on Use of Chinese, Interview and Medical Examination.
(2) CAS will select the most suitable candidates for enrolment as members of the CAS in accordance with the performance of the candidates in the selection procedures and the available vacancies in the Service.
(3) For details of the Functional and Fitness Tests, please refer to the CAS Website (http://www.cas.gov.hk).

Officers at Grade IV
(1) After an initial screening process, shortlisted candidates will be required to pass the Functional and Fitness Tests, Written Test on Use of Chinese and English and Interview. Candidates who pass the tests and interview will be invited to attend Selection Camp, Officers Selection Board Interview and Medical Examination.
(2) CAS will select the most suitable candidates for enrolment as members of the CAS in accordance with the performance of the candidates in the selection procedures and the available vacancies in the Service.

Allowances
Where any member attends training or performs duties, he/she shall be eligible to be paid the allowances in accordance with the Auxiliary Forces Pay and Allowances Ordinance, Cap 254.
