Research Assistant (Full-time/Part-time)

The appointee is expected to provide research assistance to the Principal Investigator in an RGC-funded project. He/she will be involved in the data collection process, including recruiting participants for the study, conducting interviews with local students, international students, and mainland Chinese students, and transcribing interview data.  He/she will also be required to undertake project management, literature review, administration and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Requirements

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree and/or a Master's degree in English, Linguistics, Language Studies, Bilingual Studies, Humanities, Cultural Studies, Education, Social Sciences or Business, with excellent command of English and Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese).  Preference will be given to candidates with a higher degree and some relevant research experience, especially in data collection and transcription. Good interpersonal and communication skills will be required.  Candidates with an outgoing personality and a strong oral communication ability would be an advantage. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Chinese word-processing is highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits

Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits and mandatory provident fund.

The appointment will normally be made on an initial contract for six months with the possibility of contract renewal subject to mutual agreement.
