OFFICE OF COUNSELLING AND WELLNESS 

Senior Counsellor (Clinical Psychologist)/Counsellor (Clinical Psychologist) (Ref. 16111704-IE) 

Duties 

Reporting to the Head, Office of Counselling and Wellness, the appointee will be required to: 

(a)  provide counselling services to students individually or in groups; 

(b)  conduct psychological assessments; 

(c)  handle cases of a more difficult nature and in crisis situations that require crisis intervention; 

(d)  initiate and coordinate university-wide projects and programmes for the promotion of students’ psychological, physical and spiritual wellness; 

(e)  work in close collaboration with academic faculties/departments in providing training, workshops and support for students for their holistic development specific to the faculties’/departments’ needs; 

(f)   provide training, clinical and administrative support and/or supervision to other staff members in helping students; 

(g)  liaise with academic staff, family members and outside agencies on matters relating to counselling cases and students’ psychological, physical and spiritual wellness; and 

(h)   support the Head of Office and her delegates in planning the office’s development and operation; 

(i)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Office or his/her delegates. 

The appointee may be required to work on irregular hours. 

Qualifications       

Applicants should have: 

(a)   a recognised master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, and be eligible for membership of relevant professional bodies; 

(b)   at least eight years’ post-qualification solid experience (for the post of Senior Counsellor) or five years’ post-qualification solid experience (for the post of Counsellor) in counselling, preferably in educational setting and/or mental health setting; 

(c)   a good servicing attitude and communication skills; 

(d)   an excellent command of both written and spoken English; and

(e)   the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage. 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test. 

Remuneration and Condition of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
