(a) To conduct training and workshops in food and nutritional science, and related fields;
(b) To develop, review, update training materials and assist in curriculum development to meet with the latest needs of the industry;
(c) To monitor food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with ISO22000 standards;
(d) To organize and conduct food product research and food quality analysis;
(e) To maintain training-related records;
(f) To handle the procurement, maintenance and commissioning of plants and equipment of the Section; and
(g) To establish and maintain close network with professional bodies / government departments / hospitality and culinary organizations, etc.
(a) A recognized higher diploma in food and nutritional science, or equivalent, preferably a relevant recognized degree;
(b) At least 6 years’ experience in the relevant industry, preferably in the hotel and catering industry, and/or teaching;
(c) Experience in food testing and/or test method development would be an advantage;
(d) A food hygiene certificate from or the membership of the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) or equivalent would be an asset;
(e) Proven supervisory and administrative abilities;
(f) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese, preferably with knowledge of Putonghua;
(g) Proficiency in common computer software applications; and
(h) Ability to pass a trade test.
(1) Candidates without the required academic qualifications stated in (a) above but possessing 12 years’ experience in the relevant industry and/or teaching may also apply. Where applicable, these candidates may be required to have a Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification.
(2) Candidates will be considered for the post of Instructor if (i) with a higher diploma in a relevant discipline and at least 3 years’ experience in the relevant industry and/or teaching, or (ii) without a higher diploma but possessing 8 years’ experience in the relevant industry and/or teaching. Where applicable, these candidates may be required to have a Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification.
(3) The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
(4) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
