In 2016/17, THEi is offering 20 degree programmes through three faculties.
Faculty of Design and Environment: Advertising, Fashion Design, Product Design, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Architecture (2-year professional programme), Horticulture and Landscape Management, and Surveying (jointly with the Faculty of Science and Technology).
Faculty of Management and Hospitality: Sports and Recreation Management, Culinary Arts and Management, Professional Accounting, Hotel Operations Management, Public Relations and Management, and Retail Management.
Faculty of Science and Technology: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Management, Building Services Engineering, Health Care, Food Science and Safety, Multimedia Technology and Innovation, and Information and Communications Technology.
In 2016/17, seven programmes (Fashion Design, Product Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture and Landscape Management, Culinary Arts and Management, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Engineering and Management) are in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors, which provides subsidies to students varying from $40,000 to $70,000 per year.
All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. Most of them are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies.
A new campus is being built on a site in Chai Wan next door to the Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) campus at Chai Wan. It is scheduled for completion in 2017/18.
Senior Technician (IT)
Faculty of Design and Environment
(a) To supervise a team of technicians in providing technical support services on IT hardware, software, applications, teaching and learning related facilities to users including staff and students;
(b) To supervise the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of equipment, machinery, or apparatus;
(c) To develop and maintain web-based systems, application using HTML, ASP, AD, PHP, MS Access, Apache, WebSphere, and MySQL;
(d) To implement, maintain and administer the Campus Network, IT application systems and servers, including CAD/BIM server and Multi-tier architecture;
(e) To manage and support computer systems and services on Windows, Linux, Wireless, VMware, and Firewall platforms;
(f) To liaise with IT vendors and other operational units on IT service projects, and enforce IT policies and guidelines;
(g) To monitor procurement of IT hardware and software, consumables and ensure related inventory records are properly maintained; and
(h) To keep the workshops, studios and laboratories safe, clean and tidy.
(a) A recognised diploma or a higher certificate in Information Technology, Graphic or Multimedia Design, or related disciplines with at least six years’ relevant work experience;
(b) Experience in using Mac OS X, iOS, Windows Server and Linux Server;
(c) Proficiency in various common CAD/BIM software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, ArcGIS, KeySHOT, ArchiCAD, Microstation, 3DMAX, MAYA, ALIAS, Autodesk, Adobe);
(d) Good knowledge of Bluebeam, CostX, Synchro, Yardi, Altus Analytics Solutions;
(e) Good knowledge of operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of computer hardware and networking, desktop and portable Macintosh systems, such as MacBook Pro, iMac, iPad and iPhone;
(f) Good communication and interpersonal skills;
(g) Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(h) Experience or knowledge in some of the following areas will have an advantage:
(i) implementation, maintenance and administration of Revit Server;
(ii) LAN or WAN technology and TCP or IP; and
(iii) website development and web programming using languages such as PHP, ASP and HTML.
(1) Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend and pass a trade test.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform shift duties, or work in irregular hours on a need basis.
(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
