Stables Operations Manager

The Department

Our Racing Operations Department manages vast areas where horses train and race. It is an interesting, busy and natural environment where you will find some of Hong Kong's most colourful people, like racing professionals, world class sportsman, agronomist and engineers. We are looking for a proactive and highly-motivated individual to join our team.

 

The Job

You will:

 

  • assist Stables Manager to ensure smooth stables / raceday operations through effective coordination among different functional teams
  • coordinate with Trainers on identifying and arranging horses that need to be moved for any reasons (e.g. racing, stables transfer, retirements, and transfer to Conghua Training Centre (CTC) etc); work closely with Horse Movement team on horse transportation logistics
  • coordinate with Corporate Sustainability and Stables Facilities Management teams in managing stables waste, utility saving projects and other sustainability initiatives
  • develop strong awareness of occupational safety and health among stables staff, as well as organize preventative safety management programmes in stables to ensure compliance with safety standards and minimization of injury at work
  • ensure that feeds, beddings, riding gears /equipment and other necessities are supplied properly in line with the Club's standards and the requirements of stables users in both Shatin and CTC
  • work closely with Stables Facility Management team on effective implementation of the maintenance programmes in stables to ensure that stables facilities /equipment are maintained in the best possible condition at all times
  • manage a team of Stables Services Assistants on providing various services including but not limited to clipping, equine swimming pool, night watchman and loose horse catching
  • perform racedays duties 

About You

You should have:

 

  • tertiary education with racing knowledge and passion with horses
  • experience in managing a large workforce of different nationalities, including staff from China
  • excellent stakeholders management, problem solving and communication skills with strong business acumen
  • strong leadership capabilities and influencing skill
  • proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
