The Department is looking for a Teaching Associate/Instructional Assistant to support the development of student-initiated projects and other teaching activities. The appointee is expected to assist course instructors in the design and development of teaching materials, facilitate and assess students’ participation of project competition, and provide administrative and logistical support for activities that are required for the courses. He/She will also assist in other course preparation and delivery assigned by the Department, provide support to student mentorship and related activities, and may be involved in other new initiatives such as e-learning and MOOC development.
Applicants are expected to have a higher degree, preferably a PhD in mechanical engineering/aerospace engineering or a relevant engineering discipline. Those with strong laboratory supervision skills and hands-on project experience are preferred. Post-qualification work experience in teaching, training or project management is a plus. The appointee is expected to be a good team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, a dynamic learner who enjoys cross-disciplinary work, and be able to handle multiple project-based assignments. A high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin) is essential. Working outside normal office hours may be required. Candidates with good background but less experience may be considered for appointment as Instructional Assistant. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)
