The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working with more than 150 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and mainland China, is committed to advancing patient service, research, training and education to the highest possible standard in all major areas of ophthalmology and visual sciences. We are looking for candidates, who are self-motivated, hardworking, honest, and with a strong sense of responsibility, in the following position to further strengthen our research. Previous research experience in ophthalmology or visual sciences is desirable but not mandatory. The appointee(s) will be involved in both team and independent research.
Technician(s) (Software/Computer Engineering) (Ref. 16000297) (closing date: November 29, 2016)
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Electronics or related fields; (ii) at least 2 years’ work experience as a software/computer engineer in the industry, software house or research institutions; (iii) experience in software application and database development; and (iv) Matlab and IT knowledge, and GUI constructing skills. Experience in making 3D segmentation-related software or game engine development experience (Unity 3D and Unreal) is preferred. Duties include (a) designing and developing software and hardware applications for research projects in eye diseases; (b) performing data and image analysis in research projects; and (c) providing support in computer maintenance and security, and software installation. Appointment will be made on a 1- or 2-year contract (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
