Firm puts value on right attitude

A market leader in a whole range of business solutions including inspection, testing, verification, certification and training, SGS often has a long list of vacancies to fill.

The company, which has 1,200 staff in Hong Kong and 140 offices worldwide, most often advertises laboratory-related positions such as technicians and senior technicians, chemists and laboratory executives, and frontline positions in customer service and account servicing.

"We look for candidates who are aligned with our corporate vision, demonstrating that they are committed to contributing to society and providing clients with sustainable solutions," says Selina Li, assistant recruitment manager at SGS.

"We appreciate staff who have a positive work attitude and a strong sense of responsibility. They should be passionate about the industry and continuously strive for the best performance. They should focus on their personal growth and value working as a team," Li adds.

In addition, good communication and interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn are all on the management's wish list.

Projects can be challenging and timelines tight. A can-do attitude, the ability to work independently and under pressure will serve those who join well. New employees get to attend an orientation and an annual mandatory training to ensure that the highest standard of integrity applies to all of them.
