Global knowledge

What does your company do?

Lynk helps companies and individuals make better business decisions by unlocking the knowledge and insight of global experts. The Lynk platform uses data to understand, map and organise its experts and their knowledge, so it makes knowledge sharing easier. Companies need timely, relevant knowledge, but they often can’t find it, or they get lost in a sea of information. Lynk provides easy access to that knowledge.

What sort of brands/products are associated with your company?

We believe knowledge has no bounds, so our members span nearly all industries. Our clients include top-tier consulting firms, global private equity funds, hedge funds, media, government agencies, multinational enterprises and start-ups. Lynk’s experts include C-level executives, retired senior management, thought leaders, scientists, managers, engineers, independent consultants, lawyers, accountants, and financial analysts.

What activities do you have planned for your shadows?

Our shadow will have a full view of my work as the CEO of Lynk, and will get an uncensored look at what it’s like to run an international business. The shadow will observe everything from client meetings to business development activities, and will also experience what it’s like to be a “Lynker.” which involves interacting with Lynk’s employees across different business lines.

What do you hope your shadows will get out of the experience?

A mentor once told me to “just focus on excellence.” This is a philosophy  I have worked to ingrain in Lynk’s business, and one that I hope our shadow will take away from the experience. I also hope our shadow will watch how Lynk employees “make it happen.” This is an integral part of Lynk’s culture that embodies the reality of entrepreneurship to do what it takes to make things happen.

What leadership skills or lessons are you personally hoping to impart?

The first is Simon Sinek’s concept of “Start With Why.” Identifying “why” you are doing a certain thing gives you clarity of purpose, and direction. The second is E.F. Schumacher’s concept of “Small is Beautiful.” Schumacher advocates for “economics as if people matter.” This means taking a human-first approach to business, using innovation to address greater social challenges as opposed to only commercial market needs.

What skills are you looking for in applicants?

Intellectual curiosity is one of the most important qualities. Lynk’s employees need to be intellectually curious about our clients and how to improve knowledge sharing. Likewise, our values of excellence, empathy, and dependability are reflected in how we approach our most important asset — our people. We focus on an individual’s ability to combine curiosity, creativity, and passion.

What is the job market like for graduates in your industry?

It’s a very exciting time for graduates to enter an entrepreneurial environment. Since our business spans multiple industries and verticals, recent graduates can avoid getting siloed into one specific industry.
