Going farther along your journey of self-actualisation

So, here’s the situation. My last company didn’t quite work out the way I wanted. I was good at my job, but it wasn’t the best fit for what I wanted. I want more for my career than just going to work and cashing a paycheck at the end of the month. I’m old enough to want more than just money, but young enough to be unafraid of change. I also felt that I had learned all the lessons I needed to, and that it was time to let go. Everything pointed in the direction of me moving on, and I made the decision to leave before I got stuck.

Now I’ve been looking for a new job for a while, within the same industry. But the problem is, most of the positions that are within my expected career track are kinda basic. Very few would actually challenge my growth in the way I want. It actually surprised me how the local market for my industry is really not all that innovative.

So I’ve been doing some thinking. I want to more or less stick to the same industry, but diversify the kind of roles that are available to me. But, I can’t necessarily rely on the industry to just hand me those positions on a platter. I’m skilled and disciplined enough to broaden my skill base, but want to be more proactive in using that independent professional development to create the types of opportunities that I think there is a lot of potential for in my field.

Internationally, my industry is dynamic and can evolve at a crazy pace. I just want to be able to bring some of that energy to shake up the scene here. How do I wake up a market that doesn’t even know it’s asleep?
