'SHKP Vertical Run for Charity' Expands Its Scale

The 'SHKP Vertical Run for Charity' Launching Ceremony was held today at the sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck (sky100).  The ceremony was officiated by SHKP Deputy Managing Director Mike Wong and SHKP Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer and 'SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Hong Kong ICC' Event Organizing Committee Co-chairman Patrick K W Chan. Other honourable guests at the ceremony include 'SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Hong Kong ICC' Event Organizing Committee Co-chairman Edward Cheung BBS and Shanghai Children's Health Foundation (SCHF) Ruxing Feng.  Mike Wong commented, "It is the third consecutive year for SHKP to host a vertical running event and this year's event will be held at a much larger scale. Whilst we focus on business development, we hope to further promote healthy lifestyle through charity sporting activities. More Quota and Wider Age Range to Encourage City-wide Participation

'SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Hong Kong ICC' will be held on 7 December,2014 at the ICC, the seventh tallest building of the world and the tallest building in Hong Kong. Organized by SHKP and Co-organized by The Community Chest of Hong Kong (the Chest), all fund raised will be donated to the Chest to support youth services. This year's event includes four categories: Elite, Individual, Relay and Fun Climb. The general public may participate as individuals or in groups of four or five to challenge the 2,120 stairs. This year's Relay Races and Fun Climb will open new groups suitable for young adults and children to encourage public participation. In addition to Corporate Relay from last year, new Youth Relay (for participants aged between 12 to 18 years old) and Open Relay will also be added to encourage youngsters' participation. The Fun Climb this year welcomes children aged 10 or above to experience the fun of stair-climbing with their parents. The organizer has invited experts from different professional fields in medicine and sports to form the Expert Advisory Panel, which will offer professional training tips for vertical running enthusiasts.

Bringing Vertical Running into the Community

From now until race date, SHKP will organize series of special events in the community to promote public participation. The 'Step-up Hong Kong' competition welcomes the general public to share their stairway-related stories and photos through social media platform.  The works shared will have a chance to get published in the 'Hong Kong Stairway Map' for all stair-climbing enthusiasts. Furthermore, SHKP will bring the vertical run event to 800 primary and secondary schools through seminars and training workshops; and will also organize a cheerleading competition and stairway drawing competition, all of which aim to create a big craze for vertical running among students.  SHKP will also host vertical running events in its networks to encourage busy urbanites to take their first steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

SHKP Hosts the Final Two Races of the Eight 2014 VWC Races

The newly added 'SHKP Vertical Run for Charity -- Race to Shanghai IFC' will be held on 26 October, 2014 at the Shanghai International Finance Centre (Shanghai IFC). The race will serve as the seventh stop of the 2014 VWC, and will offer  Group/Corporate Relay, Individual, and Elite races for runners to challenge 1,460 stairs.  The general public is welcome to participate to experience the fun and joy of vertical running. All fund raised will be donated to the SCHF to support medical treatment for sick and poor children treated at the Shanghai Children's Medical Centre.

'Race to Shanghai IFC' official partners are Shanghai IFC and The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong; and the SCHF is its charity partner.
