Should I put those casual jobs on my CV?

I am in my mid-thirties and have worked for the past six years as a project manager in the events sector. Though I enjoy my job I find that the company I work for lacks ambition, and I feel it is time to move on to something bigger. Before I worked in my current job, my career was rather patchy, with a lot of casual jobs in the service industry and retail. I am a bit reluctant to put these none-too-impressive jobs on my CV, but I also realise that having big gaps on it could be more damaging. What do you think is the best way to approach this?
