3D TECHNICAL FASHION DESIGNER - US fashion brand owner / US market (TST)

ROLE MISSION

• You will support the design and product-development process for the US market by developing accurate patterns, improving garment fit and creating three-dimensional digital samples.

• You will combine technical expertise in pattern-making, fitting and garment construction with modern 3D design technology. You will help transform design concepts into well-fitting, production-ready garments that meet the company’s quality and product standards.

ROLE SUMMARY

• Reporting to the Head of Design and Development, you will join a Design and Development team of approximately 10 members in our Hong Kong office.

• You will be responsible for the technical development of apparel for the US market, including pattern development, fit evaluation, 3D garment visualisation, technical specifications and tech-pack preparation.

• You will work closely with the US design team, fashion designers, product-development colleagues, factories and suppliers throughout the development process. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Develop and revise garment patterns for apparel designed for the US market.

• Create and adjust garment blocks based on approved designs and measurement specifications.

• Work closely with fashion designers to translate design concepts into accurate patterns and technical specifications.

• Use 3D design and pattern-making software to develop and review virtual garments.

• Evaluate garment fit, shape, balance, construction and overall appearance through 3D simulations and physical samples.

• Conduct fitting sessions and provide clear comments on measurements, fit and construction.

• Review sample garments and identify issues relating to pattern accuracy, fit, workmanship and garment construction.

• Revise patterns and technical specifications based on fitting comments and sample reviews.

• Prepare and maintain accurate technical packs, including measurements, construction details and production requirements.

• Work with factories and suppliers to clarify patterns, construction details, technical specifications and sample corrections.

• Follow up on sample development and ensure that required revisions are completed accurately.

• Check final patterns, specifications and technical documents before production approval.

• Apply strong knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing to ensure that designs are practical and production-ready.

• Maintain accurate records of patterns, blocks, 3D files, fit comments, sample revisions and approved technical documents.

• Work closely with the US design team and New York headquarters on product requirements, fitting feedback and development deadlines.

• Support the development of apparel collections by providing technical advice on fit, construction, materials and production feasibility.

• Monitor development schedules and complete assigned styles within agreed timelines.

• Perform other duties and projects assigned by the Head of Design and Development.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Pattern Making, Textile and Clothing or a related discipline.

• At least 5 years of solid experience in pattern-making, fitting and technical design within the fashion-apparel industry.

• Strong experience developing apparel for the US market.

• Proficiency in major 3D fashion-design and pattern-making software.

• Strong knowledge of digital garment simulation, 3D fitting and virtual sample development.

• Ability to create, adjust and grade patterns using established blocks.

• Profound knowledge of garment construction, pattern development and manufacturing processes.

• Good understanding of fit, measurements, grading, balance, ease and construction details.

• Experience preparing technical specifications, tech packs and production documents.

• Strong ability to inspect and evaluate garments for fit, quality and construction.

• Good understanding of fabric behaviour, garment workmanship and production feasibility.

• Excellent English communication skills to work closely with our New York headquarters.
