Chief Digital and Technology Officer [Ref.: R/305/26]
The appointee will leverage extensive senior technology leadership experience in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, service management and governance to advance the University’s digitalisation agenda. He/She will play a key role in driving University-wide digital transformation initiatives and ensuring that innovative, secure and scalable technologies are effectively adopted to support academic, research and administrative excellence.
The role is expected to draw on proven experience in leading large-scale technology operations, digital product development, enterprise platforms, AI-enabled automation, cloud migration, high-availability infrastructure, cybersecurity compliance and stakeholder engagement in sizeable and complex organisations.
Duties
Provide strategic advice on the planning, prioritisation and implementation of University-wide digital transformation projects;
Support the development of digitalisation roadmaps, technology standards, IT governance frameworks and operating models to enhance efficiency, service delivery and institutional resilience;
Contribute to the design, implementation and enhancement of digital platforms and technology solutions to improve administrative, academic, research and student-facing processes;
Advise on the adoption and integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, generative AI, automation, low-code platforms, cloud technologies and data analytics;
Support the improvement of IT service management, service quality, digital workflows and user support through appropriate platforms, processes and performance measures;
Engage with internal stakeholders to gather users requirements, assess institutional needs, facilitate change management and promote digital adoption across the University; and
Support the evaluation of technology investments, digitalisation projects, vendor proposals and innovation initiatives to ensure alignment with the University’s strategic objectives.
Requirements
The successful candidate must possess a clear vision, strong leadership skills and substantial senior-level experience in IT services, digital transformation, innovation strategy or technology governance in sizeable organisations;
He/She should hold a Bachelor’s degree or above, with a relevant professional or postgraduate qualification. Expert knowledge of digital strategy, enterprise technology, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, AI adoption, IT governance and service management are required;
A proven track record in leading large-scale digital development and technology operations is essential. Experience in managing complex enterprise platforms and infrastructure modernisation, AI or automation initiatives, cybersecurity and compliance programmes, and multi-stakeholder transformation projects would be highly relevant;
The candidate should have a deep understanding of the transformative potential of information and technology in a large organisation, with the ability to translate institutional needs into practical, secure and scalable digital solutions; and
Other key qualities include strong analytical ability, critical and strategic thinking, excellent stakeholder management, outstanding communication skills, and an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
