FASHION PRODUCT DEVELOPER - US fashion garment brand owner / US market (TST)

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Manage the apparel product-development process for the US market, from design review to final sample approval.

• Review design concepts and provide technical advice on fabrics, trims, construction, garment applications and production feasibility.

• Source and develop suitable fabrics, trims, accessories and other materials according to design, quality and cost requirements.

• Liaise with mills, suppliers and factories to develop and confirm fabrics, trims, accessories and garment details.

• Evaluate the quality, performance, availability and cost of proposed materials.

• Prepare and review product specifications, material details and sample requirements.

• Develop product costing and monitor costs against approved target prices.

• Coordinate sample development with factories and suppliers.

• Follow up on sample submissions, revisions, fittings, comments and final approvals.

• Review samples for design details, material quality, garment construction, workmanship and overall appearance.

• Identify product-development issues and coordinate corrective actions with relevant teams.

• Provide clear comments on sample revisions and follow up until corrections are completed.

• Ensure that approved design, material and technical requirements are correctly applied to samples and production.

• Develop and review textile and garment applications, including printing, embroidery and other special embellishments.

• Check the quality, placement, appearance and production feasibility of printing, embroidery and embellishment applications.

• Work closely with the Creative Director, fashion designers and the US Marketing team on product concepts and development requirements.

• Communicate with the New York headquarters regarding product briefs, development progress, sample status and approval deadlines.

• Monitor product-development timelines and ensure that assigned styles are completed on schedule.

• Maintain accurate records of material developments, costing, sample comments, revisions and approvals.

• Keep up to date with fabrics, trims, garment applications, textile techniques and fashion trends relevant to the US market.

• Perform other product-development duties and projects assigned by management.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile and Clothing, Apparel Development, Product Development or a related discipline.

• At least 5 years of solid experience in apparel product development, preferably for the US market.

• Strong knowledge of the complete fashion-apparel product-development process.

• Proven experience in fabric, trim and accessory sourcing and development.

• Strong experience in apparel costing and sample-development follow-up.

• Good understanding of textile and garment applications, including printing, embroidery and special embellishments.

• Good knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction, production methods and quality requirements.

• Experience working with factories, suppliers and mills in Asia.

• Good commercial awareness and understanding of product cost and market requirements.

• Excellent English communication skills for regular communication with our New York headquarters.

• Experience working with Walmart or handling Walmart business is a strong advantage.

• Good command of computer applications, including MS Office and product-development-related systems.
