MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MANAGER (50K-60K) – electronic manufacturer - EMS / ODM / OEM (Dongguan)

ROLE MISSION :

• Lead the Mechanical Engineering team in Dongguan.

• Deliver reliable, manufacturable and cost-effective product designs.

• Manage product development from concept to mass production.

• Translate customer requirements into practical and technically sound engineering solutions.

• Promote innovation in materials, product design and manufacturing processes.

ROLE SUMMARY :

• Lead, manage and develop the Mechanical Engineering team.

• Act as the key mechanical engineering contact for customers.

• Oversee the complete product development lifecycle.

• Ensure product designs meet performance, quality, cost and manufacturing requirements.

• Drive the use of new materials and advanced manufacturing processes.

• Work closely with customers and internal departments.

• Participate in weekly conference calls with customers.

• Report to Engineering Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

• Lead, coach and mentor the Mechanical Engineering team.

• Manage mechanical product design and development projects from concept to mass production.

• Review customer requirements and convert them into technically sound product designs.

• Provide engineering guidance and practical technical solutions throughout the product development process.

• Oversee industrial design, mechanical design, DTC, DFX and SLA activities.

• Review mold flow simulation results before tooling.

• Recommend design improvements based on tooling and manufacturing requirements.

• Ensure product designs are suitable for tooling, assembly and mass production.

• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Electronics, Firmware, Sales, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing teams.

• Communicate with customers on technical requirements, project progress and engineering issues.

• Lead design reviews, engineering discussions and customer meetings.

• Monitor project progress and identify potential technical risks.

• Implement corrective actions to resolve design and manufacturing issues.

• Promote the use of new materials, technologies and advanced manufacturing processes.

• Support cost reduction, product improvement and manufacturing efficiency initiatives.

• Ensure engineering deliverables meet customer specifications and company quality standards.

• Provide regular project and team updates to the Engineering Director.

IDEAL CANDIDATE :

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• 10–15 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, product design and development.

• At least 4 years of experience managing or leading a Mechanical Engineering team.

• Solid experience in project management and new product development.

• Experience managing products from design concept through tooling, trial production and mass production.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, DFX, tooling and manufacturing processes.

• Experience with mold flow simulation and design-for-manufacturing principles.

• Experience in household appliances, industrial power control products or related electronic products is highly preferred.

• Experience working in an EMS, ODM or OEM manufacturing environment.

• Strong customer-facing and technical communication skills.

• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
