MERCHANDISER - optical frame eyewear designer, manufacturer & trading (Kwun Tong/5 days work)

COMPANY OVERVIEW

• We are a well-established optical frame designer, manufacturer and wholesaler with more than two decades of experience in the eyewear industry.

• We specialise in optical frames and sunglasses, including plastic, metal, injection and titanium frames. Our business covers OEM and ODM services, authorised-brand distribution and the development of our own eyewear brands.

• Our Hong Kong office serves as the hub for sales, marketing, design, merchandising, administration and product development. We work closely with our production facilities in China and Cambodia to deliver reliable, high-quality eyewear products to international customers.

• Our client markets include the United States, Canada, Central America, Australia and Europe. We work with international eyewear brands, wholesalers and business partners to support product development, manufacturing and distribution requirements.

ROLE MISSION

• You will manage the complete merchandising process, from sample development and price negotiation to mass production and final shipment.

• The successful candidate will work closely with customers, factories, suppliers, the Sales Team, the shipping team and other external parties to ensure that products are developed and delivered on time, at the agreed quality and cost.

ROLE SUMMARY

• You will coordinate all merchandising activities for assigned eyewear products and orders. This includes sample development, costing, price negotiation, production planning, shipment follow-up and issue resolution.

• The role requires strong product knowledge, good understanding of eyewear manufacturing processes and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Candidates with experience in the eyewear industry will have an advantage.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Manage the full merchandising process from sample development and costing to mass production and final shipment.

• Coordinate with the Sales Team to understand customer requirements, product specifications and delivery schedules.

• Liaise with factories and suppliers on sample development, product details, production arrangements and order requirements.

• Follow up on sample submissions, revisions, approvals and delivery timelines.

• Prepare and review costing information and support price negotiations with customers and factories.

• Ensure that product prices are aligned with customer requirements, production costs and agreed commercial terms.

• Confirm production details, quantities, specifications, packaging requirements and delivery schedules with factories.

• Liaise with factories on production planning, production lead times and manufacturing arrangements.

• Monitor production schedules closely to ensure that orders are completed according to the agreed timeline.

• Follow up on production progress and identify potential delays or problems at an early stage.

• Coordinate with factories and relevant internal teams to resolve production, quality, delivery and packaging issues.

• Provide regular updates on sample status, production progress, shipment schedules and outstanding issues.

• Apply knowledge of optical frames, sunglasses, materials, components and relevant manufacturing processes to support product development and production follow-up.

• Attend local and overseas trade fairs when required.

• Travel to Mainland China, overseas locations and trade fairs when required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Form 5 or DSE graduate; higher qualifications are an advantage.

• At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in merchandising.

• Experience in the eyewear, optical frame, sunglasses, fashion accessories or related industries is highly preferred.

• Good product knowledge and understanding of relevant manufacturing processes.

• Experience in sample development, costing, price negotiation, production follow-up and shipment coordination.

• Proficiency in English, Chinese and Putonghua.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

• Proficiency in Chinese word-processing.
