PRODUCT QUALITY ENGINEER (30K-35K X 13 / no trips required) – MNC power electronics R&D office (Fotan/5 days)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• We are looking for an experienced Product Safety professional with strong hands-on experience in power supply or power electronics product safety.

• Experience in a testing company handling power supply, power conversion, or related electronic products will also be considered.

ROLE MISSION

• To ensure power electronics and switching-mode power supply products are designed, tested, certified, and manufactured in full compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements throughout the product life cycle.

• To provide practical product safety support from early design review through certification approval, production release, and handling of safety-related issues.

ROLE SUMMARY

• Report to the Principal Engineer of Safety and join a small Product Safety team.

• Support all product safety matters for power electronics and power supply products.

• Review product construction, support safety testing, prepare certification documents, coordinate with agencies and laboratories, and handle product and factory safety issues.

• This role is suitable for someone with solid experience in product safety engineering, especially in switching-mode power supply products and related certification work.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Work according to the quality system and procedures of the Product Safety team.

• Provide product safety support to Product Design teams in Hong Kong and China, and to relevant production teams.

• Review product construction, schematics, components, materials, insulation systems, creepage and clearance, safety protection measures, and other safety-related features of power electronics and switching-mode power supply products.

• Check product designs against standards such as IEC 62368-1, GB 4943.1, and other local or international requirements.

• Identify safety risks during design and development, and suggest practical solutions.

• Prepare product safety test plans for new or modified products.

• Carry out or coordinate safety tests, including electrical, mechanical, temperature, abnormal operation, dielectric strength, insulation resistance, leakage current, and other related tests when needed.

• Review test results, find issues, and work with design and engineering teams to make corrections.

• Prepare complete safety submission documents, including technical files, test reports, drawings, component details, and supporting documents for safety agencies.

• Work with certification bodies, testing laboratories, and safety agencies during the approval process.

• Follow up on agency comments, additional test requests, certification issues, and approval status.

• Investigate product and factory safety issues found through internal reviews, customer requirements, agency inspections, or production audits.

• Carry out root-cause analysis and work with engineering and production teams on corrective and preventive actions.

• Give product safety support to production plants so that manufacturing processes stay in line with approved product designs and certification requirements.

• Review design or manufacturing changes to check if they affect product safety or certification status.

• Support product transfer, production ramp-up, engineering changes, and quality investigations.

• Maintain the product safety laboratory, equipment, test records, and work area according to safety agency requirements.

• Make sure testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and suitable for safety evaluation.

• Support internal and external audits related to product safety, lab control, quality systems, and certification compliance.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• At least 3 years of solid hands-on experience in product safety engineering for power supply or power electronics products.

• Experience in a testing company handling power supply, power conversion, or related electronic products will also be considered.

• Strong practical knowledge of switching-mode power supply products, product construction, electrical safety, insulation systems, and safety-critical components.

• Proven experience in IEC 62368-1 and GB 4943.1 compliance, testing, certification, and approval processes.

• Solid experience in preparing safety certification documents and handling submissions to safety agencies and certification bodies.

• Hands-on experience in planning, carrying out, reviewing, and resolving product safety testing issues.

• Proven experience handling product safety and factory safety issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Strong understanding of safety standards, certification systems, agency requirements, and regulatory documents.

• Good communication skills in spoken and written English and Mandarin.
