Duties
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will celebrate its 90th Anniversary through a series of strategic initiatives designed to strengthen the University’s reputation, stakeholder engagement, brand positioning, partnerships and long-term development.
Reporting directly to the Vice President (Administration and Development) and working together with relevant units of the University, the appointee will lead the University’s 90th Anniversary Celebration and oversee the planning, coordination and implementation of anniversary-related programmes and initiatives.
The appointee will be required to:
Strategic Planning
(a) formulate and implement the overall strategy, framework and roadmap for the University’s 90th Anniversary Celebration in alignment with the University’s strategic priorities;
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
(b) develop and implement engagement strategies for key stakeholders including Council and Court members, staff and students, as well as alumni, donors, government officials, community leaders, industry partners, both in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and other regions;
(c) cultivate strategic partnerships and collaborations that support the University’s development objectives and goals through impactful engagement programmes and initiatives;
Branding, Communications and Reputation Enhancement
(d) lead the development and execution of anniversary-related branding, communications and publicity strategies in collaboration with relevant offices and departments of the University;
(e) promote the University’s achievements, impact and future aspirations through integrated communications, marketing and storytelling initiatives;
Signature Events
(f) oversee the planning and delivery of major anniversary events, ceremonies and engagement programmes to enhance the University’s visibility and profile locally and internationally;
Leadership and Management
(g) lead and manage the team for the 90th Anniversary Celebration and oversee budgetary planning, resource allocation, project implementation and performance monitoring to ensure the successful delivery of anniversary objectives; and
Other Duties
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Vice President (Administration and Development) or his delegate(s).
The appointee will be required to work outside normal office hours and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays when necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree and preferably a higher degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related discipline;
(b) substantial managerial and specialist experience, normally not less than fifteen years at supervisory level, preferably gained in higher education, public sector organisations, major corporations, professional bodies or large-scale institutions;
(c) a proven track record in leading complex strategic programmes involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional collaboration;
(d) extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, communications, branding, partnership development, institutional advancement, major events or related fields;
(e) demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior executives, government officials, community leaders, donors, alumni and strategic partners;
(f) strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving capabilities with sound judgement in handling complex and sensitive matters;
(g) strong capability to work under stress and leverage strengths of a team of professionals in the Communications and Public Affairs Office and other units;
(h) excellent leadership, project management, interpersonal and communication skills; and
(i) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
