Duties
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will celebrate its 90th Anniversary through a series of strategic initiatives designed to strengthen the University’s reputation, stakeholder engagement, brand positioning, partnerships and long-term development.
The appointee will play a key role in planning, coordinating and implementing the University’s 90th Anniversary Celebration and serve as the Project Director’s deputy in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the team of 90th Anniversary Celebration.
The appointee will be required to:
Strategic Programme Management
(a) support the development and implementation of the University’s 90th Anniversary Celebration strategy, work plans and major initiatives in alignment with institutional priorities;
(b) coordinate and monitor the progress of anniversary projects and activities across faculties, schools and administrative units;
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
(c) assist in developing and implementing engagement programmes for key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, government officials, community leaders, industry partners, staff and students;
(d) cultivate productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and participation in anniversary initiatives;
Branding, Communications and Publicity
(e) assist in the planning and execution of anniversary-related branding, communications, publicity and storytelling initiatives;
(f) coordinate the production of anniversary publications, promotional materials, digital content, commemorative projects and publicity campaigns;
Signature Events
(g) lead the planning and implementation of major anniversary events, ceremonies, conferences, forums, exhibitions, community engagement programmes and other signature activities and ensure high-quality delivery;
Administration and Team Leadership
(h) support the operation of the 90th Anniversary related committees/working groups, including the preparation of papers, reports, presentations and progress updates;
(i) supervise subordinate staff and coordinate their work to ensure the effective operation of the team; and
Other Duties
(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the Vice President (Administration and Development) or his delegate(s).
The appointee will be required to work outside normal office hours and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays when necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree, preferably with a higher degree, in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related discipline;
(b) substantial experience at supervisory level, normally ten to fifteen years or more, in communications, branding, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, major event management, project management or related areas, preferably gained in higher education institutions, public sector organisations or sizeable corporations;
(c) proven experience in planning and managing large-scale projects or high-profile institutional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders;
(d) sound understanding of branding, reputation management, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications;
(e) demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior executives, alumni, donors, government representatives, industry partners and other stakeholders;
(f) strong organisational, project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously;
(g) excellent interpersonal skills, with experience in coordinating cross-functional teams; and
(h) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
