Supervising Instructor – Trade Testing (Carpentry)

Company Overview

The applicant must possess:

  1. a technical craftsman background with at least 10 years of solid experience as a skilled craftsman, foreman, technician, supervisor, or in a similar role;

  2. relevant Trade Test Certificate(s) in a craftsmanship discipline.  Additional Trade Test Certificate(s) in other disciplines and/or relevant licences will be a distinct advantage; and

  3. secondary school qualifications, with good writing skills, computer literacy, supervisory/management skills, and strong verbal communication skills in Cantonese and basic Putonghua for liaising with various teams and stakeholders.

(Applicants who do not possess the required qualifications and / or experience may be considered for other positions within the organisation.)        

Duties include:

  1. to oversee and supervise trade testing operations and procedures of the relevant trade groups of the Hong Kong Construction Industry Trade Testing Centre, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery;

  2. to plan, enhance, upgrade and develop workshops to maximise the quality of trade testing services in terms of variety, effectiveness and volume to meet market needs;

  3. to assist management in developing trade testing content and liaising with relevant government departments and stakeholders;

  4. to verify and approve assessment results, and oversee the formation and implementation of trade test / course assessment frameworks, ensuring all related activities (e.g. test logistics, invigilation and assessment) are conducted fairly, consistently and reliably;

  5. to ensure astute and efficient management of resources (including manpower, testing materials and facilities) required to facilitate and sustain trade test operations;

  6. to ensure effective coordination among trade staff and other teams, and facilitate communication between management and trade staff; and

  7. to carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.

The position is on a renewable fixed-term contract (subject to performance and operational needs) for a period of 2 years.
