VENDOR SOURCING MANAGER / VENDOR SOURCING DIRECTOR – US garment buying office / trading / APAC sourcing hub (Lai Chi Kok)

  • Our private label business involves the design and supply of exclusive collections for leading retail customers, while our branded business focuses on the development and distribution of owned and licensed fashion brands. 

  • With integrated capabilities across design, sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution, we serve major department stores, specialty retailers, off-price and big-box chains, as well as e-commerce platforms.

  • The company operates more than 100 retail stores in the US. 

  • Our Hong Kong office serves as a strategic hub for regional sourcing, product development, and supply chain management across Asia-Pacific.


Role Purpose

  • You will establish and lead our Hong Kong sourcing office as a regional sourcing hub. 

  • This is a high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the CEO in the US, with responsibility for building a best-in-class vendor ecosystem that supports both branded and private label businesses.

  • The successful candidate will take full ownership of the vendor sourcing and production lifecycle, drive product development and vendor management excellence, and build a high-performing team to support the company’s long-term growth in Asia.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, scale, and lead the Hong Kong sourcing office as a strategic hub for Asia-Pacific operations.

  • Build, develop, and manage a high-performing sourcing team of 5–6 members.

  • Serve as the senior sourcing leader and primary point of accountability for all Hong Kong-based sourcing activities.

  • Identify, evaluate, onboard, and manage a diversified vendor and factory base across Asia, with a strong focus on  Southeast Asia and China. 

  • Develop and implement vendor assessment and tiering frameworks covering capability, capacity, compliance, quality, cost, and reliability.

  • Build and maintain a preferred supplier network and strategic vendor partnership structure.

  • Lead end-to-end product development and production from concept through bulk delivery.

  • Manage seasonal product development calendars to ensure all key milestones, from proto to TOP to bulk shipment, are delivered on time.

  • Oversee production schedules, capacity planning, and risk mitigation to support speed-to-market and on-time delivery objectives.

  • Partner closely with QA and Technical teams to resolve fit, construction, and quality issues efficiently.

  • Lead vendor sourcing strategies for both branded and private label programs, recognising the distinct commercial and operational requirements of each.

  • Develop a structured vendor matrix to align supplier capabilities with product categories, brand positioning, and margin targets.

  • Ensure all vendors and products meet company standards for quality, safety, social compliance, and ethical sourcing.

  • Oversee factory audits, compliance reviews, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Build executive-level reporting on vendor performance, including cost, quality, delivery, and compliance KPIs.

  • Act as the key liaison between Hong Kong, China, and US teams to ensure clear communication, alignment, and execution.

  • Maintain sourcing data and documentation to support management review and strategic decision-making.

  • Travel regularly to China and Southeast Asia to support vendor development, production follow-up, and market intelligence gathering.


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Fashion, Merchandising, or a related discipline; advanced qualifications are an advantage.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in apparel sourcing, vendor management, or product development, including 3–5 years in a senior leadership capacity.

  • Proven track record of building, leading, or scaling a vendor sourcing office or vendor sourcing team in Hong Kong or broader Asia.

  • Strong knowledge of apparel manufacturing, product development, costing, vendor negotiations, and production management.

  • Solid experience across both branded and private label business models.

  • Existing relationships with factories and vendors across the region are highly preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, Mandarin, and Chinese.

  • Willing and able to travel regularly across China and Southeast Asia.
