To implement the Macao SAR Government’s policy objectives of “Education to Prosper Macao and Talents to Shape Macao”, and to align with the international development of higher education, UTM has been advancing internationalisation through its educational provision, expanding its international student body and teaching team, and contributing to Macao’s development into a hub for high-calibre international talent. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the personnel ordinance of UTM, the UTM Council launches a global recruitment for the position of Rector.
Major Responsibilities:
(1) To lead the academic and administrative management of the Macao University of Tourism;
(2) To ensure that the University fulfils its objectives and discharges its duties;
(3) To formulate the University’s overall policies and development plans, and submit them to the University Council for approval;
(4) To oversee the operation of academic units, training units and support units, and ensure coordination among them;
(5) To formulate the University’s annual activity plan and submit it to the University Council for consideration;
(6) To prepare the University’s annual activity report;
(7) To propose the creation, modification, suspension and discontinuation of higher education programmes in light of the University’s long-term development needs and financial viability;
(8) To strive to enhance the quality of teaching and research;
(9) To actively foster cooperation with renowned universities and industry organisations in Mainland China and overseas, thereby supporting the University in achieving its internationalisation goals;
(10) To strengthen industry-academia-research collaboration, enhance the University’s capacity for social services, and increase its social impact.
Candidates Should Meet the Following Essential Requirements:
(1) Possess a doctoral degree;
(2) Be a Full Professor of a higher education institution, or possess substantial professional experience and recognised professional qualifications in the field of education;
(3) Be of good civic character.
Preferred Requirements:
(1) At least eight years of teaching and academic research experience as a professor, or in a position equivalent to professor, in disciplines related to cultural tourism and hospitality management, with significant contributions to teaching and academic research;
(2) Not less than ten years of administrative management experience in higher education, preferably with experience serving as a vice-rector, dean, or in an equivalent position;
(3) Extensive networks in the academic, higher education, cultural tourism and hospitality professional fields, and the public sector at both global and national levels; preference will be given to candidates currently or previously holding key positions in such institutions;
(4) Familiarity with, and research experience in, economic development strategies relating to the cross-sector integration of cultural tourism and hospitality with other industries, as well as the transfer of research outcomes; ability to promote interdisciplinary integration and development within the University;
(5) Familiarity with development trends in higher education in Macao, Mainland China and overseas, with an international outlook and a forward-looking philosophy of university governance;
(6) Forward-looking thinking and outstanding leadership abilities, with the capacity to lead the University in achieving substantial development in teaching, research, internationalisation and social services;
(7) Fluency in Chinese and English for communication and professional exchange.
Taxable Remuneration and Benefits:
The university will offer a competitive salary based on the appointee's qualifications and relevant professional experience. Currently, the professional tax rate in Macao ranges from 7% to 12%. In addition, the university provides comprehensive benefits, including provident fund, housing allowance, family allowance, holiday allowance, and medical benefits, among others.
