Resolve is one of Hong Kong’s newest non-profit organizations, founded in 2017 to provide a dynamic platform to empower future community leaders, particularly from marginalized and underrepresented groups, with the skills, network and resources for them to know, understand, and act upon their rights for the benefit of the communities they represent and foster a more inclusive Hong Kong.

We provide a signature Social Justice Fellowship Program combining leadership development, human rights education and campaigning skills. On December 10th, Human Rights Day, we launched the 2020 fellowship theme on disABILITIES and Empowerment; Less Assumptions, More conversations. The inaugural theme in 2018, was on racial equality and inclusion, and in 2019, on ending gender-based violence together.

Purpose and role

Resolve is looking for a full-time Alumni Community Manager/Officer to join our growing and collaborative team to support in building up a second, new pillar of our programs - An Alumni Network to the Social Justice Fellowship. The Alumni Network’s goal is to guide fellows to move from inspiration to action, advancing further their own initiatives and collaborating and supporting one another in the social justice and inclusion space in Hong Kong. To make that happen, we are looking for someone who can build a community, through harnessing strong relationships and points of collaboration among and across our cohorts of fellows and mentors. You are a good communicator, a good executor and ideas-driven. This is a chance to be part of an up-and-coming NGO where you can leave a legacy, building up an entire new program. You are someone who loves community-building, is creative and proactive and comfortable working in a start-up setting.

 

Responsibilities

  • To manage the planning, coordination and execution of the new alumni program – focusing on the implementation of the program activities – for example; alumni reunion event, training workshops, social & networking activities. 

  • To act as key Liaison with the alumni network – be able to nurture/foster a collaborative and positive environment for the alumni network – supporting them to achieve their own goals within the scope of Resolve’s mission, vision and priorities. – build long lasting relationships with them. 

  • To set up the infrastructure and pilot a new Opportunity Fund to support alumni initiatives that have meaningful impact in the community to advance social justice before the end of the year, and liaising with alumni interested in submitting proposals. 

  • To source partners and sponsors/ collaboration opportunities for the alumni program activities (Venue/gifts/speakers/training opportunities etc) and for the alumni network to be involved in 

  • Regular input and engagement in helping to shape the monitor and evaluation of the alumni program –giving feedback on improvements for the program/activities to the Head of Programs 

  • To support on drafting and implementing the communications of the alumni program to the alumni and to the wider Resolve community in cooperation with the marketing team. 

  • Occasionally support the Programs officer with the execution of the social justice fellowship program activities with a focus on building relationships with the fellows.  

  • In collaboration with other members of the team, to support the development of alumni program budgets, input costs and monitor expenditure.

  • Assist and participate in overall team function activities, such as quarterly retreats, work-planning, staff meetings, team-building and Resolve event functions; and, where appropriate, represent Resolve externally at external engagements and media work.

The position will report to the Head of Programs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights, Government and Politics, Public Policy, Social Work or other equivalent academic experience. 

  • Project management skills: including the ability to set realistic goals, and translate these into detailed and clear activities and deliverables, meeting deadlines that you set.

  • Proven track record in working on projects that seek to build community.

  • At least 3 years’ working experience in related field (We have a preference for someone ready for a managerial position but will be open to more junior candidates who may have the minimum work experience, strong initiative and drive).

  • Exceptional digital fluency, including Microsoft Office and Google-based platforms. 

  • Strong interest in participatory processes and human rights-based approach.

  • Permission to work in Hong Kong.

Salary & Benefits 

HKD 20,000 - 27,000 a month, depending on the level of experience of the candidate, highly dependent on experience. Other benefits including some options for remote working, professional development opportunities, health and dental insurance and above-market levels of holidays.
