Assistant Administrative Manager I

The School of Graduate Studies is established for strengthening the central support for postgraduate programmes as well as the monitoring of their quality in alignment with the University’s strategic direction of expanding and providing quality postgraduate education. The School is expected to be in its full-fledged operation by the start of the 2019-20 academic year.

 

The appointee is expected to perform administrative duties in various functional areas of the School, in particular, matters pertaining to taught postgraduate education of the University including, but not limited to, assisting in the formulation and reviewing of academic policies and regulations, academic development, academic quality assurance and enhancement of taught postgraduate programmes, and coordinating and providing secretarial support to programme review and validation exercises. The appointee will also provide secretarial support to committees, be responsible for the office management of the School, supervise junior staff in carrying out their duties, and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree; (ii) at least seven years’ post qualification experience, preferably in supporting academic development and quality assurance of taught programmes in tertiary institutions; (iii) considerable administrative experience with a high level of competence in committee work; (iv) very strong analytical and logical thinking, and interpersonal, communication, coordination and problem solving skills; (v) a very good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), especially with a high level of English proficiency in writing reports, proposals and minutes; (vi) the ability to take the initiative and to carry out duties independently and under tight schedule; and (vii) a strong sense of responsibility. Previous experience in general office administration and management in the university setting and knowledge of IT applications will be a definite advantage.

 

Salary and Benefits

The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
