Groundbreaking stem cell technology developed by The LKS Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) scholar underpins the “Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology Limited”, which investigates applications in stem cell and regenerative medicine, organ transplantation, genomic medicine, and therapeutic product development. The outputs from the Centre are expected to provide enormous economic and commercial benefits to Hong Kong through the new technologies and lines of research created and the products that will be built on that. This project will also contribute to Hong Kong’s transformation into a global innovative hub.

Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Director in the Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology Limited (Ref.: CTSCB-210302) to commence in April 2021, on a two-years fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.

 

Applicants should possess a master’s degree or above in biological sciences, or related disciplines, with at least 10 years of working experience in biomedical research area, including at least 5 years of experience in grant applications, staff supervision and laboratory management, and good publication track record. They should have substantial experience in stem cell and translational research/ genomic research/ cancer research; a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese); and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. They should be a fast-learner, and able to work well with our dynamic teaching and research teams in a stimulating environment. Those with both basic research and clinical research experience are preferred.

 

The appointee will assist the Director in managing a new start-up of R&D Centre, focusing on translation of stem cell research. The appointee will prepare funding proposals, grant reports and agreements, communicate with collaborators and funding agency, and oversee the operation of the research centre (including Administration Office and Laboratory).
