Founded in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) today is a modern and full-fledged university with about 10,000 full-time undergraduates, 1,900 postgraduates and 8,700 part-time students. We tailor our professional programmes to market trends and industry needs, thus providing our students with clear career paths. Our efforts and achievements in providing professional education are evidenced by the largest share in the number of subsidized places under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/ Sectors (SSSDP) in Hong Kong.

The University has joined the Joint University Programmes Admission System (JUPAS) since 2007. Currently, the University offers 220 programmes in its 5 Schools namely School of Arts and Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, School of Education and Languages, School of Nursing and Health Studies and School of Science and Technology. In addition, there are more than 2,000 full-time and 2,000 part-time students studying in the Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE).

Effective from 1 September 2021, upon the HKSAR Legislative Council’s approval, OUHK will be renamed as Hong Kong Metropolitan University, which marks the University’s unique position in metropolitan Hong Kong and points to aspiration in the 21st century.

Assistant Director of Facilities Management (Ref: 210012P)

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Facilities Management, the appointee shall mainly be responsible for the following:

  • leading the Facilities Management Office in provision of a safe, reliable and welcoming campus for learning and teaching as well as a quality environment to students and staff;
  • liaising with stakeholders on campus maintenance and development projects to meet the current and future needs of the University;
  • managing staff and outsourced contractors in provision of quality facilities management services including building maintenance & works, cleaning, security, catering, gardening, students amenities, events support, office mailing and transport with high functional efficiency and in a customer-oriented approach;
  • developing and implementing policies and strategies of workplace safety, environmental conservation as well as accommodation and space allocation; and
  • undertaking any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A recognized degree, preferably a higher degree, in engineering, architecture, surveying, building services or a related discipline, with professional membership(s) of HKIA, HKIS, HKIE or related professional bodies;
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in facilities management, AA&I works, estates maintenance/development and project management, preferably in the tertiary education sector;
  • Proven ability in working effectively with various stakeholders in a complex environment;
  • Service-oriented with high integrity and strong leadership, management, interpersonal skills; and
  • Excellent communication skills both in English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua).

 

 Candidates may be invited to attend a trade/written test.

 

Compensation Package

Competitive compensation package including basic salary, composite cash allowance, end-of-contract gratuity and discretionary incentive (if any) will be offered to the right candidate.Fringe benefits such as generous annual leave, staff learning and development sponsorship, medical & dental benefits and life insurance coverage will also be provided.
