The Insurance Authority (IA) is an insurance regulator established under the Insurance Ordinance (Cap. 41). It replaced the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, a government department, to regulate insurance companies with effect from 26 June 2017. The principal function of IA is to regulate and supervise the insurance industry for the promotion of the general stability of the insurance industry and for the protection of existing and potential policy holders. IA is expected to take over the supervision of insurance intermediaries from the three Self-Regulatory Organizations in mid-2019.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate with users and system developers on project scopes, feasibility analysis, business analysis studies
  • Prepare technical, business and user requirement specifications
  • Participate in IT procurement and tendering process
  • Plan and participate in system integration test, user acceptance test, load test and disaster recovery drill, user training etc

  • Review, revise and/or prepare system documentation and training materials
  • Perform data analyses and extraction, and generate ad-hoc reports  
  • Monitor the progress of projects 

 Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Accounting / Insurance / Information Technology / Computer Science or related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years' working as a System or Business Analyst, preferably in the insurance industry with exposure in General or Long Term Business
  • Solid experience in medium to large scales mission critical IT systems implementation projects, and execution of Business Process Re-engineering projects
  • Good knowledge of SDLC process, application programming, database and system design, IT security, document and workflow management
  • Solid experience in project development and implementation using relational database and SQL and reporting tools
  • Experience in document and workflow management systems, electronic submission, Excel VBA/macros, CSV and XML will be an advantage
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with multi-tasking ability, independent and a team player 
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese

 

Terms of Appointment

A competitive remuneration package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications on a 2-year contract will be offered.
