Assistant IT Manager (at the rank of IT Officer) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 516637) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or above in Information Technology or a related discipline, with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience.  They should have solid experience in web development using one or more of the programming languages (e.g. PHP, Node.js, MongoDB, MySQL, HTML, CSS), and Linux application server setup and administration.  They should also have experience in Linux (Redhat/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows server system administration, system shell scripting, server hardware setup and maintenance, and petascale storage system using distributed parallel file system.  Working knowledge of High-Performance Computing Cluster, VM/Container, Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing platform, grid computing system, cloud technologies as well as Python language would be desirable.  Applicants are expected to be fast learners with good interpersonal skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and able to work proactively with our dynamic teaching and learning team under a fast-paced environment.  

The appointee will be responsible for maintaining the entire IT infrastructure, server administration, system development and provision of quality IT services for the Faculty.  He/She will also assist in the development and maintenance of web-based interface and backend server, provide technical support to events and functions, and perform ad hoc projects as assigned.  The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends occasionally.
