Responsibilities:

  • direct, plan and manage the acquisitions, bibliographic control and processing of library materials;
  • review and develop library strategic plans, policies, guidelines and procedures;
  • manage library materials budget, evaluate financial reports and prepare related statistics;
  • collaborate with faculty members on monitoring collection assessment and library resources in line with curriculum development;
  • participate in library-wide meetings, projects, and events; and
  • perform shift duties at reference desk.

 

 

Applicants should:

  • possess a recognized university degree and professional qualification in librarianship (MLS or equivalent);
  • have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience working with library collections, budgets and vendors at supervisory level;
  • have experience with both the acquisitions and cataloging modules of ExLibris preferred:
  • have knowledge of current trends in acquisitions and cataloging standards;
  • have excellent planning, leadership and organizational skills to manage complex tasks with high level of accuracy;
  • be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications;
  • have ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with stakeholders.

 

The appointee will be required to work shifts in evenings and on weekends. Experience of working in the tertiary education sector will be an advantage. Applicant with less years of experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Librarian II.
