Job Posting Details

The HKUST MBA Office is searching for a capable candidate to fill the position of Assistant Manager (Career and Alumni Development), MBA Programs. The appointee will provide career advice to and develop training plans for MBA students, as well as develop and nurture corporate partnership across industries to create more internship and graduate MBA placement opportunities. The appointee will focus on the following work areas:

  • Provide Career Advice to MBA Students: Provide career advice to MBA students coming from a wide range of geographical and industry backgrounds through regular 1-to-1 meetings or group communications; and add value to career services by providing practical guidance to students for understanding job market trends, identifying opportunities and supporting their interview preparations.

  • Career Training & Development: Gather up-to-date MBA job market trends and continuously review career training programs to enhance students’ employability. Possessing an understanding of corporate learning and development or recruitment process in any of the following industries or companies will be an advantage: Banking & Finance, Consulting, Multinational Companies or Technology Firms.

  • Job Matching for MBA Students: Work in a team with other career advisors to review each student’s career interest and latest job search situation. Providing insights and customizing approach to support each MBA student and matching them with relevant job opportunities is an important part of the role.

  • Campus Recruitment: Develop and maintain strong relationship with campus recruiters in different corporates. The appointee will gain thorough understanding on the recruitment process and support corporates to promote their hiring needs to MBA students.

  • Administrative & Reporting: Handle MBA students’ daily enquiries by phone calls and emails; support the team in conducting data analysis and compiling reports.

  • Ad-hoc Tasks: The appointee should demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support ad-hoc projects or administrative tasks according to seasonal team needs.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with at least 3-5 years of work experience, ideally with a Recruitment, Corporate Learning & Development or relevant background. Passion in developing long-term corporate relationships is a plus. The ideal candidate should have a proactive work attitude and demonstrate a sense of ownership. Being participative in a team that handles a large number of stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, self-confidence, interpersonal skills and sense of urgency will be important for success. Ability to deal with ambiguous situations, willingness to find solutions actively and curiosity to learn are also essential. A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are required (Word, Teams, OneDrive, Sway, PowerPoint, Excel – Able to use Excel Pivot table and create statistical dashboard is a plus). (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
