Responsibilities:

 Reporting to the Deputy Head of Ship Management or any other appropriate staff of the Company as authorised by the Company from time to time :-

 To deal with sub-contracted third party ship manager/s and monitor their overall performance for managing vessels owned and/or chartered in by the group;

  • To review all technical and operational reports pertaining to the vessels operated by the respective ship managers;
  • Together with the respective sub-contracted ship manager, conclude and monitor the relevant vessel’s operating budgets and to monitor and review the technical/operational aspects in the monthly account statements;
  • To inspect as and when required the vessels owned or chartered in by the group;
  • To attend as required for matters pertaining to sale and purchase of vessels;
  • To be involved (as and when directed) in new building activities such as preliminary design, pre-contract discussions, cost estimation, specification preparation & negotiation, plans approval, sea trials, guarantee claims follow up and occasional site visits, as well as all activities relating to the ship delivery, any related ceremony and other pre-operation preparation for any new shipbuilding project;
  • To support Commercial Dept. in evaluating newbulding and/or second-hand vessel projects including but not limited to vessel specifications from the technical perspective;
  • To give advice on MOA, C/P etc on request;
  • To be involved together with other colleagues of the department in all technical and operational matters relating to existing ships and new buildings;
  • To represent the company in the public activities such as seminars, conferences etc as and when required;
  • To handle any other relevant responsibilities and/or functions of the Group as assigned from time to time.

 Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma and practical knowledge in Marine Engg;
  • Class 1 COC with minimum 1 year sailing experience as Chief Engineer;
  • Minimum 5 Years (2 years for the post of Assistant Manager) experience in vessels technical management including dry-dockings. Some exposure to tankers preferable;
  • Exposure to new-building activities is a plus;
  • Strong financial and budgetary experience;
  • Fluency in English, both oral and in writing. Knowledge of Chinese is a plus;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication (both oral & written) and inter-personal skills;
  • Organised, reliable, effective and efficient;
  • Discreet and good judgment in handling/responding to confidential and sensitive information;
  • Independent, be able & be willing to roll-up one’s sleeves to adapt to this time and age of maximizing one’s own and the overall corporate efficiency/effectiveness/competitiveness with the support of updated information technology available in the market;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, detail oriented and a good team-player;
  • Proactive, independent (including independent correspondences by electronic mail &/or in hard copy) & be able to prioritize (not only for oneself but also for the affected colleagues) and manage multiple tasks with a strong sense of responsibility for completing tasks;
  • Mature, results oriented with international mindset and strong personal drive to take initiative and get things done
  • Excellent hands-on working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; be able to independently prepare and execute presentations, reports, graphs, charts, spreadsheets, etc. 
  • Willingness to travel.
