OFFICE OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

Associate Vice President (Institutional Advancement)* / Director of Institutional Advancement (Ref. 22051613-IE)

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the appointee will assist the Central Management in planning and implementing strategies and initiatives for enhancing the fundraising capacity of the University through cultivation and stewardship of existing and prospective donors and supporters in Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas; and advancing institutional goals by engaging and developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, associations and institutions in the community.

*Applicants with substantial and proven relevant experience may be considered for the position of Associate Vice President (Institutional Advancement) on a concurrent basis and normally for a fixed term. The Associate Vice President (Institutional Advancement), if appointed, will also coordinate overall development initiatives of the Office of Institutional Advancement and the Alumni Affairs Office of the University.

Job Functions

The appointee will be required to:

(a) plan and implement strategies and initiatives for enhancing the fundraising capacity to advance the institutional goals of the University;

(b) identify and cultivate close relationships with existing and prospective individual and corporate donors in Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas; and realise their support for the University;

(c) outreach and expand the University’s networks with key/influential stakeholders, institutions and associations in the community;

(d) design and implement programmes to enhance fundraising capacity of the University in collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Alumni Affairs Office, Mainland Development Office and academic units;

(e) lead and/or support Senior Management in major fundraising projects/activities;

(f) communicate closely with donors and supporters on the University’s developments and progress of the initiatives and programmes supported by donors;

(g) enhance the donation support systems for ongoing stewardship and effective donation administration;

(h) serve as Secretary to PolyU Foundation; and

(i) perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President or his/her delegate(s) or the Central Management of the University.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications or Management or a relevant discipline plus not less than fifteen years of managerial experience including at least ten years of which at senior management level in fundraising and related roles, and preferably with exposure in academia, sizable and complex corporates and NGOs;

(b) possess extensive networks with the business and philanthropic community in Hong Kong and preferably in Mainland China and overseas; and have proven records for cultivation and realisation of support for advancing institutional goals and objectives;

(c) be able to strategise and execute engagement and development strategies, plans and programmes;

(d) demonstrate a strong drive for results achievement and passion for institutional advancement works;

(e) demonstrate ability to provide strong leadership and executive direction with proven management capabilities;

(f) have excellent interpersonal, communications and engagement skills, with high proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably in Putonghua as well;

(g) possess strong project management skills and a proven track record in organising large-scale events; and

(h) have a good knowledge of higher education environment in Hong Kong is preferred.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
