Essential Job Functions

  1. The provision of pro-active healthcare management services to injured employees with a view to mitigating the extent of their injuries and promoting their early return to work.

  2. The interpretation and application of Employee’s Compensation and liability insurance policies, the assessment of liability (whether statutory, common law or other system of law) and the extent to which this liability is covered by the terms of the policy.

  3. The development of effective claims handling strategies to enable to the proactive handling and resolution of Employees’ Compensation and liability claims. This will include the negotiation of settlements pre and post the commencement of proceedings and thus a keen understanding of litigation procedure and alternative dispute resolution is essential.

  4. The setting and monitoring of accurate reserves, maintenance of claim files, compliance with service standards and the identification of opportunities for subrogation.

  5. The development and maintenance of relationships with customers, business partners and internal stakeholders. This may also involve presentations and training on matters of interest.  

  6. Working with the Head of Casualty Claims and the Regional Head of Claims to enhance our processes, reports, service initiatives and infrastructure with a view to further development a world class claims service for our customer.
     

Requirements

  1. University graduate with a medical or allied health background (i.e., registered nurse, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, etc.) is preferred.

  2. Minimum 3 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in workplace rehabilitation and Employees’ Compensation claims handling.

  3. Knowledge of Employees’ Compensation Insurance and the associated ordinance is essential.

  4. Excellent organization and time management skills; with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities in tandem.

  5. Good analytical skills, attention to detail, with the ability to work unsupervised.

  6. Experience in the development and execution of claims handling strategies and settlement negotiation.

  7. Quick learner, flexible and adaptable to a changing environment with the ability to work in team environment.

  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Cantonese with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals. Proficiency in Mandarin would be an advantage.

  9. Demonstrated integrity, passion for excellence, collaboration across functions.
