Clerk of Works (Ref. 18061410-E3)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) manage assigned projects, attend all site inspections and supervise and assign duties to supporting staff;

(b) monitor the standard of workmanship against the contract documents and good building practice in Hong Kong in accordance with the relevant British Standard or Code of Practice as specified by the consultant(s);

(c) carry out routine inspections of the structural/building works, contractors’ setting out of all elements, samples and related documents against contract requirements to ensure the conformity with the drawings, specifications and contract requirements, and report to project team members on defects if necessary;

(d) monitor the progress of on-site works against the approved programme and all environment, health and safety aspects of the contractors’ works;

(e) report all non-compliance of safety procedures to the contractors’ representative and document in the site record book;

(f) maintain the record of daily on-site activities and submit monthly returns to the parties concerned as required;

(g) liaise with project team members on all site matters and coordinate with the government departments and public utilities for the on-site works;

(h) perform duties during weekdays and Saturdays regularly, and work outside office hours during weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays when required; and

(i) perform any other duties as assigned by Director of the Office or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree in a construction-related discipline plus at least five years of solid post-qualification experience, or a Higher Diploma in a related discipline plus at least eight years of solid post-qualification experience;

(b) be a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) or related professional bodies;

(c) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and

(d) have good interpersonal and presentation skills.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
