Established in 1960, the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) is a supranational organization that promotes the science and art of ophthalmology among all peoples and nations within the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in prevention of blindness and restoration of sight through teaching, research, and community services. Regional congresses are organized for advancement of expertise and research in eye care. With a total of 23 members societies from different countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the APAO is gearing up for more exciting events and initiatives. Major responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Develop congress and professional educational strategies
  • Provide effective management of international congresses and their related scientific and social events, including providing support for the development of the scientific programs
  • Preparation of financial projections and budgetary control / reporting
  • Responsible for preparing sponsorship packages and liaising with potential congress sponsors
  • Organizing the exhibition areas for trade exhibitions
  • Maintaining our brand image and promoting the congresses to potential sponsors, speakers, and delegates
  • Liaison with APAO member societies and other partners in organizing congresses
  • Liaison with business vendors

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with excellent command of both written and spoken English
  • Marketing qualifications, such as CIM, preferable
  • Strong background in congress management within a healthcare environment, covering strategic as well as operational tasks, with a proven track record for delivering high quality results
  • Proven track record in successful management of marketing and communication
  • Excellent leadership qualities
  • Minimum 5 years of solid experience in related disciplines
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Congress Executive
  • Organized, self-motivated, with a can-do attitude, attention to details, and the ability to multi-tasking
  • Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal, and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently or on a team under pressure

 

We offer competitive remuneration. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a 1- or 2-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement and good performance.
